Join the Illinois Brass Band — Peform Under the Direction of Stephen Squires!

As a professional conductor, Mr. Stephen Squires has worked with many exceptional artists, including Janos Starker, Pinchas Zukerman, Shmuel Ashkenasi, John Browning, Leon Bates, Ani Kavafian, Wendy Warner, James Tocco, Richard Stoltzman, and most of the principal players of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera Orchestra. Mr. Squires conducts numerous ensembles in the Chicagoland area on a regular basis: Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Millar Brass (Evanston, IL), Salt Creek Ballet Orchestra (Hinsdale, IL), and the Illinois Brass Band. You too can perform under Mr. Squires' direction by joining the Illinois Brass Band.

The Illinois Brass Band is pleased to announce immediate openings in the following sections:

• tenor horn
• tuba
• percussion

The Illinois Brass Band is a competitive British-style brass band. We currently rehearse on Thursday evenings in Arlington Heights. We currently compete in the 1st Section of the North American Brass Band Association with the goal of continually improving our performance standards and competitiveness.

The ideal candidates will be serious adult musicians capable of playing technically demanding repertoire, solving technical challenges independently in personal practice in order to allow maximum use of ensemble rehearsal time for polishing the group performance. Members are expected to be committed to attending regular weekly rehearsals as a rule, with exceptions for extenuating circumstances.

Interested musicians should send a PM via the Illinois Brass Band​ Facebook page, or send an email to personnel@illinoisbrassband.org to arrange a time to sit in with the band for rehearsal. Prospective members are required to successfully complete an audition for membership. Please share this with other musicians who may be interested.
